Long Island City, New York August 2, 2011 -
Civic leaders joined Long Island City residents and the 108th Precinct at Andrews Playground on August 2nd to celebrate the '28th Annual National Night Out Against Crime'.
Local restaurants and eateries generously provided food to show their appreciation for the local police men and women.
NNOAC promotes community involvement in crime and drug prevention activities, strengthening police-community relations, and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie as part of the fight for safer streets.
Since 1984, "National Night Out - America's Night Out Against Crime" has grown to involve over 30 million people from more than 9,000 communities.
There were pony rides, face painting, cotton candy, finger printing bouncy castles and various other activities for children.
John Andrews Playground is located at 49th Avenue between Vernon Blvd. and 5th Street (behind the 108th Pct.). The event is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
An estimated 300 - 400 people from the community participated in the event.
